Tropical Disco are launching a brand new sub label TDR LTD with the first release arriving on Friday 23rd October. Behind this brand new label concept is the wish to create something that is extremely special, a give back of sorts for their most loyal of fans.

‘The Collectors Editions’ 12's will be limited to 350 copies for each edition and will be hand numbered and pressed on the finest 180gr vinyl as well as featuring kraft outer covers and black inners. They will also come with a hand-stamped and numbered insert as well as stickers and a pin badge presented in a muslin bag. It’s a classy and sophisticated presentation to match the music to be found within.

The ethos behind these releases is one of complete simplicity. Each release will feature only the finest tracks from across the spectrum of disco and real house music. TDR LTD will combine club gems old and new from deeper cuts to jazz and garage influences alongside funk infused disco edged house. All will be unified by their unerring ability to shake the club down to its very roots. Expect a selectors heaven of dance-floor cool as this collection builds over the years.

Exemplifying this ethos Volume 1 features three diverse tracks, one Tropical Disco digital chart topper, one brand new previously unheard foil fresh release and one long since forgotten Garage influenced gem which the team at TDR has dug deep to bring back for a well deserved second run at recognition.

Opener Moodena’s ‘Rattlesnake & The Ant’ typifies this approach. It’s been a runaway success via its digital release topping the download charts. TDR LTD 001 will see its first and possibly only appearance anywhere on vinyl. This funk heavy club anthem has been tried and tested on dance-floors all over the globe with support from the finest selectors including Joey Negro, Seamus Haji, Mark Farina, The Shapeshifters and Danny Krivit to name a few. It’s a true club anthem!

At the other end of the spectrum Frederik Hendrik’s ‘Westepark Café’ has never been heard before but it will become no less an essential addition to every DJ’s armoury. This sublimely funky slice of Afro disco is an absolute joy. It’s the type of understated track to which it is completely impossible to sit still. One spin of this will transform your club into a writhing sea of smiling and hugging dancers. Whilst Hendrik may be a new name to some he has already seen some serious support from Folamour who has been causing dancefloor pandemonium by frequently dropping Hendrick’s tracks across his globe trotting sets.

Closing out Volume 1 is a long lost classic in DIY’s 2002 masterpiece ‘Feelin Jazz’. A combination of powerful garage edged-beats, a deep smokey bassline, soulful vocal loops and saxophone solos it’s a track which in-the-know selectors treasured back on release in 2002. Tropical Disco Records are now bringing it back as a secret weapon of sorts for a whole new generation of DJ’s. A definite case of if you know, you know!
